Bio

SARAH LEAMY is a writer, visual artist, clown, stilt-walker, photographer and performance artist. Raised in small town in Worcestershire, England, her family took her traveling across Europe whenever possible. This interest in travel continued as she left home, studied, and then started exploring, performing and writing her way across Europe, Guatemala and the States. She graduated from the San Francisco Clown Conservatory in 2007. New Mexico is her home base in the USA.


Sarah graduated from the London University with a degree in European languages and Social Geography. She studied documentary photography at the Pimlico Media Centre in London. She has studied clowning with Jeff Raz of Cirque du Soleil,  Moshe Cohen of Clowns Without Borders, and Avner the Eccentric amongst others. She has published articles online, and in local newspapers and magazines in the States including Wisconsin, North Carolina and New Mexico. Sarah wrote, performed, and produced her own solo shows Undercurrents, Telling Tales and Dirty Laundry, in New Mexico, with topics ranging from travel chronicles, gender roles, immigration, travel, sexuality and community. Sarah acted at the Santa Fe Playhouse, with roles in Witness for the Prosecution, Melodrama, Christmas Carol, and Goodnight Desdemona. She founded a volunteer clown troupe in NM in 2006, focusing on community clowning both locally and internationally. Red Cinder in Hawaii has offered her an artist residency in 2008.  She teaches, performs, writes and works as stage manager/house manager in performance studios in both the San Francisco Bay Area and in New Mexico. 

Sarah continues to explore developing community through creativity. Writing. Traveling. Performing.
